Beloved server at The Varsity retires after 45 years

ATLANTA — After decades of “What’ll Ya Have,” a beloved employee at The Varsity is hanging up her paper hat.

Rebecca Dablah retired from the iconic Atlanta restaurant this month. She served the Atlanta community for 45 years.

“Her incredible work ethic is admired by all of her coworkers. She has been a shining example of what it means to be a Varsity team member,” the restaurant posted on Facebook.

Dablah worked alongside four generations of the Gordy Family, who has owned The Varsity since it opened in 1928.

She has seen thousands of people walk through the doors over the years form presidents, dignitaries and celebrities. But The Varsity said it’s the regulars that are like family to Dablah.

“We will miss you Mrs. Rebecca and wish you all the best in your retirement. We can thank you enough for everything you have done for all of us here at The Varsity. We love you!,” The Varsity posted.
