BANKS COUNTY, Ga. — Banks County High School is no longer on lockdown after a student shot himself on campus, the Sheriff's Office said.
The Banks County Sheriff's Office originally told Channel 2 that a student used a gun to commit suicide at the school Friday morning. Later, the Sheriff's Office clarified that the student was airlifted from the school.
The student was taken to Grady Hospital. His condition is not known.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called to the school.
Channel 2's Rachel Stockman said parents lined up at the school exchanging text messages with their children.
The school was on lockdown until 11 a.m.
