ATLANTA — Police are working to determine if the deaths of two homeless people under bridges in downtown Atlanta are connected.
Police said a woman was found dead under the Interstate 20 entrance ramp on Pryor Street Wednesday.
Police have identified the victim as Kaci Axam, 43.
Police said they believe foul play was involved but have not said how Axam died.

On Dec. 11, a man was found shot to death under the I-20 overpass on Central Avenue, just three quarters of a mile from where Axam was found.
He has been identified as Jake Kent Shorter.

Police said Friday that they are working to determine if the killings are connected, though they are being investigated separately.

“Please keep in mind these crimes are being investigated as isolated incidents,” Lt. Ralph Woolfolk with the Atlanta Police Department said. “The only confirmed relation is the proximity in which these crimes occurred.”
