However, tickets aren’t on sale just yet. There is still some conversation about where the Finals games in Atlanta will be played.
State Farm Arena is booked the nights the Dream are set to take the court here in Atlanta as they take on the Golden State Valkyries: The Hawks begin their season, and there is a concert. But there is an effort behind the scenes happening right now to see if something can be worked out.
“I only have some hats; I have two hats,” said the owner of sports apparel store The Fans Wear Atlanta, Donnie McLemore, who understands the popularity of the Atlanta Dream.
“There’s not a day that goes by that we don’t get multiple phone calls, multiple people coming in, and we had shirts and hoodies, and we sold out of everything,” said McLemore.
Fans are ecstatic that an Atlanta sports team is headed to the finals. The youngest of the fans we met at the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Academy shooting clinic hope they can get in on the action.
“It would be so awesome, it would be like the best gift for me ever,” said 11-year-old player Aria Gupta.

But where will the team play? The Dream played their semi-final games at State Farm Arena, as well as some regular season games. And they’re set to call State Farm home next season. But for most of this season, they’ve played at the Gateway Center Arena in College Park.
The difference in the number of fans the venues can accommodate is significant. Gateway Center has a capacity of 3,500.
State Farm has 17,000 seats.
But as of now, State Farm is booked when the Dream is set to play at home next week, with a Sombr concert and the Hawks starting their season.
At The Fans Wear Atlanta, they know a larger venue could be a game changer.
“A bigger venue just brings in more people because so many people want to see them and this is such an easy location for them to stay here in the hotels,” said McLemore.
There are many variables, including broadcast partners and staffing. As of right now, where the Dream will play hasn’t been settled.
