Channel 2 Action News was at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport as she arrived on Air Force Two just before 11 a.m.

The vice president and President Joe Biden last traveled to Atlanta together in Jan. 2022 to discuss voting rights.

President Biden traveled to Atlanta last month and spoke at Ebenezer Baptist Church in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Democrats say the reason Harris chose Georgia to visit after the State of Union is because Georgia is now a battleground state.

Republicans criticized the stop saying the Biden administration is failing Georgia.

“Access to clean water should be a right, not just a privilege to those who can afford it,” Harris said.

It was much less of a political speech…and much more of a very policy-heavy panel discussion of the Biden administration’s approach to climate change, environmental equity, and public health.

Georgia is quickly becoming a capital of electric mobility manufacturing, something Harris talked about, too.

“One of the other areas where I’m very particularly interested and excited about is electric vehicles and in particular electric school buses,” Harris said.

Electric mobility, that’s vehicles and batteries, is also Republican Gov. Brian Kemp’s initiative, luring manufacturers Rivian and Hyundai to Georgia. He was critical of Harris’ visit and Biden’s State of the Union.

“Inflation, a non-existent south border, and their continued opposition to Georgia manufacturing jobs are hurting hardworking families in our state. The state of Biden’s administration in Georgia is disastrous,” Kemp said.

Right before the vice president’s appearance, Channel 2 spoke with Democrat Stacey Abrams.

She said the fact that Harris came here after the State of the Union shows that Democrats believe Georgia is in play in the coming elections.
