ATLANTA — If you’re still looking for a good place to get away for the Memorial Day weekend, two Georgia cities have been named among Southern Living’s “Top 20 Memorial Day Weekend Destinations in the South.”
Savannah came in at No. 7 on the magazine’s list.
“Let this Southern Georgia town charm you with more than just its iconic Spanish moss-covered live oaks and well-traveled cobblestone thoroughfare known as River Street,” the magazine said.
It suggests visiting such places as the Wormsloe Historic Site, taking a walking tour of the city, and eating at The Olde Pink House, ‘known for its expansive menu of fresh seafood dishes and Southern specialties.”

The other destination that made their list is Columbus, coming in at No. 11.
“See the city and explore the outdoors on the Chattahoochee Riverwalk, which meanders for 15 miles along the Chattahoochee River. Walk or bike the wide pedestrian path and find plenty of benches to rest on along the way,” the magazine said.
It also suggests visiting the Nationa Infantry Museum and enjoying “an Italian steakhouse feast at Mabella. Whether you order a filet or plate of spaghetti, you won’t be disappointed.”
