ATLANTA — Atlanta police are investigating a shooting on Howell Mill Road that left two men injured, including one who was last reported in critical condition.

The shooting happened Thursday morning along Howell Mill Road near Chattahoochee Avenue in northwest Atlanta. Investigators believe the case may be connected to two additional crime scenes located miles away across the city.
Surveillance video obtained by Channel 2 Action News shows vehicles driving along Howell Mill Road before people suddenly begin running and ducking for cover as gunfire erupts nearby.
Witnesses told Channel 2’s Ashlynn Webb that a vehicle drove around a corner and began firing shots in what they described as a possible drive-by shooting.
Police found numerous shell casings in the roadway and evidence of gunfire damage to nearby vehicles. One vehicle parked at an auto shop down the street had a bullet go through from front hood.

A witness who asked not to be identified said she saw two people injured following the shooting. Video from the scene appears to show one victim ducking while holding his arm.
According to Atlanta police, a 25-year-old man was shot in the arm and is expected to be OK. A 31-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was last reported in critical condition.
“Bleeding profusely, he appeared to have more than one gunshot wound, but the one to his head was very clear,” the witness said.
Investigators believe two other scenes Thursday morning are connected to the Howell Mill Road shooting. Atlanta Police discovered a Kia sedan riddled with bullets about four miles away on Peters Street near downtown Atlanta.
Police later located another vehicle abandoned and burned on Detroit Avenue near Joseph E. Boone Boulevard.
Atlanta Police Lt. Christapher Butler said investigators believe they may be dealing with a single shooter but are still working to analyze the evidence.
“It looks like we’re probably looking at one shooter, but we’re still piecing the ballistics together,” Butler said.
Police said they are working to learn more about a dispute that happened before the shooting.
The Daiquiri Factory, down the street from the scene, said it is not aware of any argument, altercation or dispute inside the business that was connected to the shooting.
The witness said a group of witnesses were able to provide police with information about a vehicle believed to be connected to the shooter.
No suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been announced.
Channel 2 Action News has asked Atlanta police for an update on the victims’ conditions, particularly the man who was shot in the head.
