SAVANNAH, Ga. — Two Georgia road workers are being remembered by their coworkers and loved ones after they were killed in a crash along an interstate.

James Ray Norris, 34, of Cedartown, and Johnny Lee Ingram, 35, of Rome, were working together Monday morning when a crash sent their traffic control truck across Interstate 95 in Savannah.
Both men worked for CW Matthews Contracting Co., Inc., where they were part of the company’s Traffic Control group, according to the business.
The company said Norris and Ingram had each dedicated many years to CWM and were valued members of the team.
“Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the tragic loss of two members of our CWM family, James Norris and Johnny Ingram, who passed away Monday in an accident in Savannah,” the company said in a statement.
The two men were on I-95 northbound around 6:15 a.m. Sept. 14, picking up traffic control equipment when Georgia State Patrol says an Amazon Freightliner box truck crossed onto the right shoulder.

The box truck hit the Ford F600 traffic control truck the men were working around.
The impact pushed the Ford across three lanes of traffic and into the median, where it went over a guardrail and came to a stop near the southbound lanes. The box truck also ended up against the guardrail and the Ford.
Norris and Ingram were outside the traffic control truck when the crash happened.
Both men died at the scene.
The driver of the box truck was released while the investigation continues, according to GSP.
The interstate was shut down for several hours following the crash.
CW Matthews said Norris and Ingram’s loss is being felt throughout the company.
“Their presence will be deeply missed, more than words can express,” the company said.
The company also thanked those who have reached out with support and asked people to continue keeping the workers’ families, friends and coworkers in their thoughts and prayers.

Amazon sent Channel 2 Action News the following statement regarding the crash:
“We’re aware of a tragic incident involving a Delivery Service Partner in Richmond, Georgia. Our thoughts are with the families, loved ones, and all those affected by this tragedy. We’re standing by to support law enforcement however possible,” said Amazon spokesperson Lex Evans.
