Piedmont Park to host BLM 5K Atlanta Festival next weekend

ATLANTA — Piedmont Park will be home to the first annual BLM 5K Atlanta Festival next weekend.

The three-day event, which will take place on Nov. 18-20 at Piedmont Park, aims to raise money for Black families facing hardship and the families of victims of police brutality.

The festival will feature the 5K, live music, food, arts and crafts, motivational speakers and an Expo with personal items from victims of police brutality on display.

Ahmaud Arbery’s family is expected to be at the event and share his personal items at the Expo, which will be on display at the Piedmont Park Gray Stone Building from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 18 and Nov. 19.

More than 20 artists will perform on Saturday in the Meadow at Piedmont Park starting at 10 a.m. The 5K begins at 5 p.m. Performers include Ari Elle, Cookama E, Jagbabii, King Jai and more.

People who get vaccinated at the Expo on Thursday or Friday will get a free ticket. Race registration includes tickets to all three events, but people can also buy tickets for the music festival and Expo separately.

The BLM 5K Atlanta Festival is not associated with the national Black Lives Matter organization.
