Owners of popular restaurant fearful after armed robbery

ATLANTA — Employees at a popular midtown restaurant say they are terrified after a man walked in and held up the man behind the counter.

“A hooded man just came in (with) a barrel pointed to the first employee that he saw,” said James O’Marly. “That’s when I threw a bottle to distract that person. That attention came right to me. That was a scary moment.”

O’Marly said his life flashed before his eyes last Monday while he worked at the popular restaurant off of Piedmont Avenue in midtown.

Security cameras show the armed man casually walking up the front ramp and through the front the restaurant dressed in all black and wearing a hoodie.

“It happened so quickly,” O’Marly said.

The minute the armed thief started pointing his nickel plated revolver at the workers, they’re all seen scattering and ducking for cover.

“There were a good 13 people there,” O’Marly said.

But O’Marly was trapped behind the bar with nowhere to go. He said the suspect threatened his life, before taking off with $600 from the register.

Now he’s sharing his story in an effort to help police catch whoever did this.

“It’s terrifying. We don’t want it to happen anyone, ever,” O’Marly said.

Anyone with information on this incident or the identity of the robber is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
