ATLANTA — Atlanta is losing a little bit of its music history.
Doppler Studios is closing after 46 years on Piedmont Circle in northeast Atlanta.
The studio posted on its Facebook page that it will close on June 10. The staff thanked everyone for their support over the years.
"We thank all for helping us become the grand place we've been for such a long time."
The owners didn't make clear what the future holds for the studios.
Doppler Studios is famous recording high-profile artists such as Aerosmith, Akon, India.Arie, B-52s, Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Jimmy Buffett, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, OutKast, Pearl Jam, Gwen Stefani, TLC, Usher, Kanye West and Stevie Wonder.
People have taken to Facebook to leave kind words for the studios.
"So sorry to hear this. I'm one of the lucky ones who got to spend a few years learning from the best of the best at Doppler. Thanks to Bill for taking a chance hiring a kid without much experience or formal engineering education some 22 years ago. Doppler will live on in every one of us who worked there. Hope the future brings good things for Joe, Bill, and the rest of the Doppler family!"
