ATLANTA — A downtown Atlanta hotel is making up with some sci-fi and super hero fans. Some Dragon Con goers said the Sheraton Atlanta upped the price on rooms they already paid for. Tim Haynes said he never misses the event.
"It's fun. All my friends are there,” Haynes said.
The annual convention draws hundreds of thousands of visitors over three days in early September. Many said the best way to take it all in is to stay at one of the host hotels. But Haynes and some others encountered trouble.
"It shouldn't take you five months to realize you had an error, a computer error in the room rate. It shouldn't take five months to do that,” Haynes said.

The Sheraton sent an email to some of its Dragon Con customers. The nightly room rate on their prepaid reservations was calculated incorrectly due to a software malfunction. The hotel would require $20 more per night.
"And they're saying, 'Oh well, we made a mistake. We want you to pay for our mistake.' On top of that, 'If you don't pay for it, we'll cancel your reservation,'” Dragon Con goer April Rose said.
Channel 2 contacted the hotel and late Thursday afternoon received a statement from the general manager, Kevin Kobishop, which said:
“We deeply regret our mistake. Some of our Dragon Con guests have been revisiting us for 10 years, and we value their loyalty. We are working directly with every one of our affected guests and assisting them with their needs. By way of apology, we are offering everyone impacted a free night stay—based on availability—good for one year."
That’s enough for Tim Haynes and his friends to hang on to their reservations.
"We enjoy the same thing. We enjoy dressing up. The whole aspect of it. It's a really cool event.” Haynes said.
