Ga. ‘Bachelorette’ star teases ‘very happy’ ending to 20th season on Channel 2

ATLANTA — A Georgia woman is narrowing down the possibilities for her future husband.

Charity Lawson, a 27-year-old child and family therapist from Columbus, Ga., is letting millions of people watch her journey for love as “The Bachelorette” in the current 20th season of the hit show airing on Channel 2.

Lawson sat down with Channel 2 Sports Anchor Alison Mastrangelo on Friday to talk about her time handing out the roses.

After Monday night’s episode, Lawson’s group of 25 men has been cut down to just 10. Next week, they’re off to Washington State where a few more men will have to pack their bags.

She told Mastrangelo she knows exactly what she’s looking for when it comes to finding the man she’ll spend the rest of her life with. A lot of that, she says, comes from lessons she learned from previous relationships and her parents, who have been married for 48 years.

“My dad is one of the most selfless people that I know. And so like selflessness, like that’s a huge characteristic that I want in my partner, someone who’s compassionate and loves not just me, but the people around them,” Lawson said.

Lawson does admit it’s been a little strange watching the episodes play out months after filming.

“It’s interesting, I will say I tell my parents like, ‘Maybe not watch this part of the episode,’ or like, ‘Just for warning, this is coming up...’ I don’t watch all the episodes with my family. You know, friends, it’s like, it’s totally different,” Lawson recalled.

She’s also looking forward to representing the Peach State well.

“I’m incredibly honored. But, you know, I think as we’ve learned in the past, I think Southern girls bring something completely different to the table.”

But don’t worry, Bachelor Nation. Mastrangelo did her best to find out if Charity was hiding an engagement ring, but she remained tight-lipped on the outcome of the season.

“I will say I’m very happy,” she laughed.

“The Bachelorette” airs Mondays at 9p/8c on Channel 2.
