Bullpen Rib House fails health inspection

ATLANTA — UPDATE: The restaurant has been re-inspected and now has a score of 85.

A well-known restaurant right next to Turner Field has failed a health inspection.

Bullpen Rib House which serves food from barbecue to wings is right across the street from Turner Field on Pollard Boulevard. Bullpen opened in 1997.

On June 13, the Southwest Atlanta restaurant got a health inspection score of 60. That surprised some baseball fans.

James Fabian who came to Thursday's game from Tennessee says his family eats there every time they come to a Braves game. He told Channel 2's Carol Sbarge he loves the food.

Violations included heavy black/pink mold in the ceiling of ice machine, hamburger patties not held cold enough, fruit flies and heavy food debris build-up in a reach-in cooler.

Bullpen did well on two previous inspections last year with a 93 and then a 92. Sbarge went to Bullpen to find out what led to the big drop in the score.

The manager was not there and has not called back yet. Customer Fabian says the recent failing score isn't going to change his routine the next time he's in town for a Braves game. He still plans to eat at Bullpen.
