ATV driver killed after crashing into fire truck

ATLANTA — A man is dead after he crashed head-on into a fire truck early Tuesday evening.

The crash happened just before 6 p.m. intersection of Sylvan Road SW and Dill Avenue SW in Atlanta.

Atlanta police said the fire truck was driving west on Dill Ave. with its lights and siren activate, responding to a fire call. The driver of the four-wheeler was driving east on Dill Ave. and attempted to pass a car in front of him but collided with the fire engine.

Firefighters tried to resuscitate the driver but he was later pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities believe the driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The area was blocked off for hours as the authorities investigate the crash.
