Atlanta Dogwood Festival returns to Piedmont Park this weekend

ATLANTA — For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, the beloved Atlanta Dogwood Festival returns to Piedmont Park this weekend.

The 85th annual festival usually begins in the Spring but because of the pandemic, it was forced to move to August.

Organizers said that, “virtually every kind of art imaginable is represented at the festival, with a nationally renowned-juried Fine Artist Market that includes sculpture, paintings, pottery, jewelry, photography and much more.”

This year’s VIP Experience will feature new culinary concepts from Baja Fish Tacos and Wood-Fired Argentine BBQ on Friday, Beauty & The Beasts on Saturday and TasteNetwork’s signature event Peachfest on Sunday.

Booths throughout the festival will include everything from live radio broadcasts to prizes and interactive games. A wide variety of musical offerings will help fill the air throughout the weekend as well.

Channel 2′s Steve Gehlbach was there Friday as vendors were setting up for the weekend festival. Many are exciting about the first major event in the city of Atlanta since the start of the pandemic.

The city opened back up for larger gatherings, as long as people follow the guidelines. Since the festival is outdoors, there is not a mask requirement.

But event organizers have spaced things out a lot more and there are about 25 percent less vendors than past years.

Festival Hours:

  • Friday 12 p.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Saturday 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Sunday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Artist market closes at 7 p.m. on Friday & Saturday.
