ATLANTA — Several people are in custody after two robberies on the Georgia Tech campus.
The first one happened Tuesday morning in an area near the University's baseball stadium.
The second robbery took place May 3 near Matheson dorm and Techwood Drive. Police say a student was walking in the area when he was struck from behind. Five suspects, one of them armed with a knife, demanded the victims' property, police said.
The suspects stole the student's wallet and ran toward a vehicle parked on Techwood Drive, police said.
The student was not seriously injured.
All five suspects were arrested by police. Three of the suspects are minors and the two others were identified as Jacarious Corouthers and Amid Malachi Francis, both 18.
Channel 2 Action News talked to students about the latest incidents.
"I feel pretty safe on campus," said student Casey Mizell. "It's almost like a bubble here that most of the crime seems to stay around campus. Sometimes it's on campus like these armed robberies, but for the most part I feel pretty safe."
Corouthers and Francis were denied bond on Tuesday.
