ATLANTA — Some residents in north Georgia saw a rare November snowfall this morning, while others in metro Atlanta just got a cold, soaking rain.
Georgians saw a variety of precipitation early Wednesday ranging from rain to flurries to snow accumulation in the mountains.
Viewers in west Georgia reported snow flurries as early as 4 a.m. The snow quickly moved east through Atlanta leaving a light powder on many yards. Some sent pictures of a dusting on their patio furniture and cars.
Meteorologist Karen Minton said temperatures would struggle to stay above freezing throughout the day. The snow had completely turned to rain by 8:30 a.m. as wind picked up.
Georgia Power reported 4,500 customers without power.
A wind advisory is in effect until 1 p.m., which will get rid of any moisture.
"It will feel cold, in the 30s all day, with strong winds making it feel like the teens," Minton said.
Expect a cold Thanksgiving Day with lows in the mid-20s and highs in the mid-40s. Despite the cold, the day is expected to be sunny.
