ATLANTA — Police say a missing 4-month old has been found safe in DeKalb County.
Police issued an Amber Alert for Bailey Jefferson Monday evening. Police believed Jefferson was kidnapped by her biological father, Brenton Jefferson-Davis, 19.
Police said Jefferson-Davis was last seen at about 4 p.m. in the 200 block of Ormon Street in Atlanta. They said he assaulted the infant’s mother and took Bailey without permission.
“I’m very worried about my baby. I don’t know what this man is capable of or what’s his state of mind,” the child’s mother told Channel 2’s Amy Napier Viteri while Bailey was still missing.
She said Jefferson-Davis came to her home, beat her up and took the baby.
He dropped the child off at an acquaintances home on Emerald Springs Drive Monday night, according to police.
Police are still searching for Jefferson-Davis, who has a warrant for his arrest.
“What concerns us is that he does have a criminal record he's currently wanted out of DeKalb County for aggravated assault,” said Maj. Adam Lee III with Atlanta police.
Police say that warrant from DeKalb County was taken out last month. Investigators believe he had a gun on him when he took the child. Though she's been found safe, police now have a new warrant for his arrest.
“Don't try to interfere yourself, just call 911 and we'll take care of the rest of it,” Lee said.
Police believe Jefferson-Davis may reside in the Decatur area. They said he is armed and has threatened suicide.
He is believed to be driving a 2004 white Ford super duty truck with dual tires and tag number: PLC7405.
