GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — New allegations of racial insensitivity are coming out against a Gwinnett County private school principal already being criticized for insensitive comments made during the school's graduation last week.
TNT Academy founder and principal Nancy Gordeuk was caught on video upset that she felt the graduation crowd was not showing enough respect for the school's valedictorian after she forgot to allow him to give his commencement speech. When some of the audience members started to leave, the video shows Gordeuk saying, "Oh look who's leaving. All the black people." That video went viral and now some parents are calling on Gordeuk to step down from TNT.
She insisted to Channel Two Action News this weekend that she is not a racist, but she did offer an apology for her remarks.
"I'm sorry it happened," Gordeuk said. "So sorry that God has forgiven me, and we'll just go forward from there."
Now, a former student and his mother are coming forward claiming Gordeuk made racially insensitive statements to them a month and a half before graduation.
Karrisah Flythe said her son Marques was a student at TNT, and when he went there to return is latest school work packet, she said he got into an argument with Gordeuk.
Flythe said Gordeuk called her stating that her son had been disrespectful so she was tossing him out of TNT, a claim he denies.
Marques said during the meeting Gordeuk ordered him to pull up his pants and said, "she told me, none of the white kids have their pants down, and it's a proven fact. All of the black kids do it. That's very prejudiced."
Karrisah Flythe said, during a phone call with Gordeuk, the principal told her the same thing.
"I was just kind of floored," said Flythe. "I said, 'so what you're telling me, you're making a general statement about all black people, and you're making a specific statement that none of the white people would ever do it.' She said, 'that's correct.'"
Gordeuk did not respond to e-mails, phone calls and a stop by TNT Academy about those new allegations.
Karrissah Flythe believes it's time for Gordeuk to step down.
"I think that she should remove herself from the school," said Flythe.
