DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — After dozens of complaints, Douglas County Sheriff's deputies arrested 13 men in a prostitution sting.
The Special Investigations Division of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office ran an online ad over the weekend advertising sexual acts for money.
"We posted an ad and gentlemen would make a call. He would come and he was arrested at the scene," said Lt. Glenn Daniel.
Daniel says the scene was a motel on Thornton Road off of Interstate 20, but he couldn't share many more details.
"In case I have to use this location again, I'm not going to describe its location for safety of my officers," Daniel said.
Emily Moore has worked at the Last Chance Thrift Store off Thornton Road for 25 years and she says she has had to call the sheriff's office several times.
"We have seen women walking around the parking lot, and it's obvious what they are doing. It's sad, but it's obvious what they are doing," said Moore.
Moore, like the dozens of other business owners who have called authorities, says it scares their customers.
"It doesn't need to be in here because we want our customers to feel comfortable shopping here and a lot of them don't anymore," said Moore.
Lonzo Shafer lives nearby and told us he's glad the sheriff's office is starting to target johns.
"It's something that's well-needed in our community. Prostitution and those johns bring a lot of other illnesses to the community like drugs and stuff like that," said Shafer.
Daniel said they are planning another sting in the same location in the near future.
