COLQUITT COUNTY, Ga. — A suspect has been arrested after unauthorized cameras were discovered inside an auditorium used by students across a Georgia school district, authorities said.

The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office said it began investigating after learning cameras had been installed by an outside vendor contracted to provide audio and visual services at the Withers Auditorium.
Authorities said the devices were not located inside public bathrooms or dressing rooms, but were found in proximity to those areas.
A suspect associated with the vendor was arrested Tuesday evening, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities are now working to determine how long the cameras may have been in place, whether any recordings were made, what may have been captured and how many people could have been affected.

Investigators are also trying to determine whether any recordings were transmitted, stored or distributed.
Withers Auditorium is used by students from throughout the Colquitt County School District, as well as community organizations and other groups.
The sheriff’s office said it is working with school district officials to preserve evidence and identify anyone who may have been impacted.
