WRIGHTSVILLE, Ga. — A drone spotted near a Georgia prison early Thursday morning led police to a large stash of suspected contraband.

Wrightsville police and Johnson County deputies were alerted around 3:10 a.m. after a 911 caller reported seeing a drone near Johnson State Prison.
Responding officers intercepted the drone and confiscated it, which had a large trash bag attached, according to police.
A vehicle believed to be connected to the delivery was also seized.
Inside the vehicle and the bag, investigators found:
- Nearly 7,000 grams of tobacco
- 1,060 grams of marijuana
- 14 phones
- 10 AirPods
- A tablet
- A smart charger
- Nine charging cords
- Seven charging blocks
- 837.8 grams of an unknown liquid
- A baby bottle
Police did not provide additional details about the baby bottle or the unknown liquid.
“Thanks to the hard work and determination of the Wrightsville Police Department, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, and Georgia Department of Corrections, these items were prevented from entering into the prison,” the Wrightsville Police Department said.
