According to Manchester police, the investigation began on March 25, after a report from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta involving a child airlifted to Warm Springs Hospital.
Investigators say the 3-year-old was initially taken from a home on Nebula Road in Manchester, where detectives later determined he had suffered repeated physical abuse over the course of about a month.
Authorities allege the abuse was carried out by the mother’s boyfriend, identified as Jonathan White.

Police say the child suffered severe injuries, including a broken leg and extensive bruising. Investigators also documented signs of more abuse, including having his hair forcibly pulled, being choked, slammed, and isolated.
White was arrested with the help of Meriwether County deputies, who authorities say played a key role in preventing him from leaving the state.
White is charged with aggravated battery, three counts of cruelty to children in the first degree and cruelty to children in the second degree.
Authorities say he was also on felony probation at the time of his arrest.
The investigation remains ongoing.
