ATLANTA — WSB-TV/Channel 2 has partnered with the Gwinnett County subdivision hit by a tornado this week to help families quickly recover as the holidays near.
Channel 2 and the Kirkstone Neighborhood Association in Buford launched the Help 2 Kirkstone project on Friday.
The outreach effort comes after homeowners' association president Ashley Tremblay went house to house to assess the damage and reported back to Channel 2.
Twelve homeowners have been displaced from this community, and one of their most immediate needs is clothing for children.
Jocelyn Dorsey, Channel 2's Director of Public Affairs, made the first donation on Friday – a check for $5,000 on behalf of the television station.
Viewers can now donate to the Kirkstone Homeowners Association fund at any Wells Fargo Bank branch in metro Atlanta.
