College Park officer's certification suspended

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — A former College Park officer may never be able to be a cop again.

College Park Police fired Donnell Eppinger in 2011 for his involvement in a motorcycle gang. A few months later, he was arrested in Lawrenceville for impersonating an officer and drug charges.

The executive director of the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council told Channel 2's Erica Byfield his organization suspended Eppinger's certification.

"For right now that person does not have a certification that they can go out here and go to work for someone and that is a good thing," said Ken Vance, GPOSTC president.

Vance told Byfield depending on the outcome of the case in Gwinnett County, the council may revoke Eppinger's certification.
