College Park Man Arrested In Double Shooting

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Clayton County police have arrested a man connected to a double shooting at a party in unincorporated College Park.

Derrick Lamont Jones, 28, of College Park was arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault, Clayton County police said.

Jones is accused of killing Terrant Flournoy, 30, and wounding Montavious Davis, 17, on April 1, police said.

According to witnesses, the men were arguing at a party on Brookstone Road. The argument continued into the driveway where Flournoy burst out the window of Jones' car, police said.

Jones fired shots, hitting Flournoy and Davis, police said.

Jones made his first appearance in Clayton County Wednesday. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 20.

In court, Jones' family said he was afraid for his life when he fired shots at the two men and acted in self-defense.

"If a man break your windows out and you leaving. A man breaks your window out your car, you're being threatened," Raymond Watson, Jones' uncle, said.

Standing nearby in the courtroom and vehemently disagreeing was the mother of two of Flournoy's eight children and Flournoy's stepdaughter. Christyn Miles said her stepfather's children no longer have a daddy. "Cause you was mad about a window. I can understand a window. A window can get replaced. A life can't," Miles said.
