Things 2 Do

Popular BBQ restaurant to open 3 more Atlanta locations

Hattie Marie's Hattie Marie's is expanding to Decatur, Duluth and Stockbridge.

There’s great news for barbecue lovers across the Atlanta area. A College Park-based restaurant known for its pulled pork, ribs, mac and cheese, and collard greens is expanding.

Hattie Marie’s announced plans to open new restaurants in Decatur, Duluth and Stockbridge this year.

“With our concept, we’ve embraced our family’s tradition while paying homage to my mother, the late Hattie Marie,” Willie Griggie said in a release. “Hattie Marie’s BBQ intends to bring the flavor and essence of southeast Texas cooking all over Atlanta with this expansion.”

Griggie and his wife, Ramona Griggie, opened the College Park location in 2017. It’s named after Willie Griggie’s mom, Hattie Marie, who ran a bakery and catering service called Pie Face Bakery.

The menu includes juicy hickory-smoked chicken wings, Dino Ribs, a creation that Hattie Marie’s calls the meatiest ribs in Atlanta, melt in your mouth beef brisket, fried catfish and more.

The Georgia expansion isn’t the planned end to the growth either. The owners are looking outside the Peach State for franchisees.
