Netherworld celebrates 25 years of screams

The mad scientists behind Atlanta’s most popular haunted house have reason to celebrate this year. It’s Netherworld’s 25th year of haunts.

“This milestone is one that not only are we proud of, we’re also grateful to all the guests near and far who have experienced Netherworld the last 25 years,” said co-creator Ben Armstrong. “This year has us looking back and celebrating our history with some of our classic characters from years past combined with new themes featuring brand new monsters and intriguing storylines, all housed in our two massive and immersive haunts.”

Created in 1997 by Billy Messina and Armstrong, veterans in the film and television industry, Netherworld’ is Atlanta’s most popular self-guided, dark attraction. Recognized as one of the most highly acclaimed haunted houses in the world, it’s known for its over-the-top special effects, unique make-up, elaborate costuming, skilled stunt actors and unusual themes.

Following the 2017 season, the team moved from Norcross to Stone Mountain after purchasing a 10+ acre property, allowing room for expansion beyond the seasonal haunts. Open year-round, Netherworld offers four adrenaline-inducing escape room games, a laser tag arena, and a monster museum.

Netherworld features two brand-new haunts this year, Rise of the Netherspawn and Return to Planet X in 3D.

Recently dubbed “scariest haunted house” by Oprah Magazine for the second year in a row, Netherworld has built a loyal cult-following over the past 25 years and is beloved for its Hollywood-quality special effects, cutting-edge themes, elaborate sets, and nightmare-inducing monsters.

It’s open every night through Halloween.
