Festivals, events returning to Atlanta in 2021

While many Atlanta festivals were forced to cancel in 2020, a number of those events are returning to the Atlanta area in 2021.

What’s coming up?

July 3-4-Peachtree Road Race

The 52nd edition of the annual 10 kilometer race is planned for two days; Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 4. Runners and walkers around the world will also have the opportunity to participate in the race virtually.

Aug. 6-8-Atlanta Dogwood Festival

Virtually every kind of art imaginable is represented at the festival, with a nationally renowned, juried Fine Artist Market that includes sculpture, paintings, pottery, jewelry, photography and much more. There are carnival rides, a dog show, kids village and more.

Aug. 18-22-Dunwoody Lemonade Days Festival

Featuring more than 30 exciting carnival rides, a variety of food and beverage vendors, a 5K run, a Country Store with multiple craft vendors, a petting zoo and the famous Dunwoody Idol contest, there is loads of fun to be had at this popular event.

Aug. 21-22-Piedmont Park Arts Festival

The 10th annual festival will feature approximately 250 artists including painters, photographers, sculptors, leather and metalwork, glass blowers, jewelers, and crafters. Festival enthusiasts are also invited to enjoy live acoustic music, a children’s play area, and a variety of festival food and drink.

Aug. 28-29-Spin the District

The third annual cycling race series returns, turning the streets of South Atlanta into a premier cycling destination. Spin the District will kick off with the Hapeville Crit on Saturday, and the College Park Crit on Sunday, launching the high-energy event during USA Crits Speed Week.

Sept. 2-6 Dragon Con

Dragon Con is the largest multi-media, popular culture convention focusing on science fiction & fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the universe.

Sept 3-5 Hot Air Balloon Glow at Callaway Gardens

Labor Day Weekend at Callaway Resort & Gardens features a number of hot air balloons that light up for a spectacular balloon glow at night followed by fireworks over Robin Lake Beach

Sept. 5-6-Atlanta Jazz Festival

The lineup will feature a variety of jazz sounds and stylings from up-and-coming talent like Brenda Nicole Moorer to seasoned jazz performers like Patti Austin and Archie Shepp and will largely be the same artists who were previously announced in 2020. More than 15 artists and musicians will entertain festivalgoers on two stages in Piedmont Park: the Oak Hill Stage and Meadow Stage.

Sept. 9-12 Yellow Daisy Festival at Stone Mountain Park

Expansive festival grounds welcome visitors to browse and purchase work by hundreds of artists over the four-day event.

Sept. 17-19-Imagine Music Festival

Imagine Music Festival is an electronic dance music and art festival held annually in Atlanta. The festival features multiple stages hosting the world’s top electronic musicians, DJ’s and bands along with cirque-style acts & performances. This year’s event moves to the Bouckaert Farm, in the City of Chattahoochee Hills.

Sept. 18-19-Music Midtown

The concert will be held at Piedmont Park and includes Maroon 5, DaBaby, Jonas Brothers, Megan Thee Stallion, Machine Gun Kelly, 21 Savage and Miley Cyrus. More than 30 artists will perform across four stages during the two-day event.

Oct. 1-3-Festival Weekend 2021

Decatur Book Festival, Decatur Arts Festival, Amplify Decatur Music Festival, and the Decatur Craft Beer Festival will all share the same weekend.

Oct. 22-24-Shaky Knees Music Festival

With more than 60 bands each year Shaky Knees is a rock-lover’s dream. Since its inception in 2013, Shaky Knees has featured a diverse lineup ranging from world-renowned acts to up-and-coming artists.
