Girl Scouts pilots new online cookie buying opportunity
Girl Scouts of Metro Atlanta is piloting the first public online cookie buying opportunity in the country for its outreach troops. While cookie sales are an annual tradition for many troops, certain outreach troops hosted in homeless shelters, community centers and other at-risk locations have to forgo the opportunity for safety reasons. Many girls set up their own cookie pages online, but they can only share those links with friends and family. This new pilot program will allow the general public to buy cookies online from five troops at undisclosed outreach sites. Cookie sales help fund each troop's goals for the year including donations to other nonprofits, field trips and other activities.
