The Atlanta Braves will turn to its youngest star pitcher when it opens the shortened 2020 season next week.
Mike Soroka has been named the Opening Day starting pitcher for Atlanta. The team starts the 60-game season against the New York Mets at Citi Field on July 24.
The Braves said Soroka at 22 years and 355 days old is set to become the youngest Opening Day starter in their modern era.

Soroka is also the first different Opening Day starter for the Braves in seven years. Julio Teheran made six straight starts for Atlanta from 2013 to 2019.
The team declined Teheran’s option in November. He signed in the offseason with the Los Angeles Angels.
