ATLANTA,None — For the first time, the widow of slain Georgia State Trooper Chadwick LeCroy talks about the loss of her beloved husband and how she and her family are moving forward.

Widow Of Slain Trooper Talks

Channel 2 Action News reporter Ryan Young sat down with Keisha LeCroy, who said the loss of her husband is too much for words. He was fatally wounded during a traffic stop in northwest Atlanta two days after Christmas.

"He was a very loving man. He loved his job, his family. He wanted nothing more than to be a state patrol officer," said LeCroy.

The couple would have celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary in January.

"Take it day by day. That's about all me and my kids can do. It's very hard," LeCroy said.

LeCroy says her husband's fellow troopers have stood by her since his death.

"They have been by my side the whole time. They have been great to me," Keisha LeCroy said.

And now a major community effort is under way to show the family how many people care.

Beau Nolen is working with other business owners, attorneys and troopers to sponsor a day of remembrance at Smith's Old Bar in honor of Chadwick LeCroy on Feb. 17. LeCroy's family will get 100 percent of the proceeds.

"I really feel like these guys go out of their way to protect and serve us," Nolen said.

"Feb. 17 we are going to have a silent auction. We are going to have a public option and live entertainment. We're asking the community, business leaders and everyone to come out."

LeCroy said she won't ever forget the acts of kindness.

"I can't really say thanks enough," she said.
