In a news release, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said officers seized a load of methamphetamine and heroin at the Gateway International Bridge on Tuesday.

CBP officers discovered the narcotics hidden within a 2006 Toyota Corolla.

According to the news release, a 57-year-old U.S. man applied for entry into the country. The vehicle was referred for a secondary inspection, and agents discovered six packages that included 13.84 pounds of alleged methamphetamine and three packages that contained 7.45 pounds of heroin.

The estimated street value of the drugs was $445,897, according to the news release.

CBP agents arrested the man and seized the vehicle. The man was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation.
