A Michigan woman said she thought it was funny when she walked into a bathroom and saw her daughter standing on top of a toilet, so she snapped a photo.
"I was going to send it to my husband to show what our mischievous little three-year-old was up to," Stacey Feeley wrote on Facebook. "However, the moment she told me what she was doing, I broke down. She was practicing for a lockdown drill at her preschool and what you should do if you are stuck in a bathroom. At that moment, all innocence of what I thought my three-year-old possessed was gone."
She posted the photo of her daughter on Facebook, urging politicians to "take a look."
Her post has been shared more than 15,000 times. Thousands of people reacted to the post.
"I'm sorry your little girl is living in a world where shes being taught to hide for her safety," Facebook user Cat Price commented on the post. "This truly breaks my heart."
Feeley's post comes a week after 29-year-old Omar Mateen shot and killed 49 people at Pulse nightclub in Orlando. At least 50 people were injured during the massacre, during which dozens of people hid in bathrooms in the club.
A divided Senate rejected plans to bolster the federal background check system by voting down four proposed measures and moved toward blocking other proposed curbs on guns Monday.
