Sheriff: Sex Offender Tried To Lure Child To Hotel

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A registered sex offender from Cobb County is in custody after investigators said he tried to lure a 9-year-old into a hotel room, the Cherokee Co. Sheriff's Office said.

Anthony David Hane, 32, of Acworth, was arrested Thursday when investigators said he tried to get the child to enter his hotel room to play video games.

Investigators said they learned of the alleged incident after the father of the child reported it on April 19.

Hane is charged with enticing a child for indecent purposes and additional charges are possible due to contact with other children.

Hane remains in custody at the Cherokee Adult Detention Center with an $11,200 bond. Hane was convicted in Union County in 2007 for enticing a child for indecent purposes.
