More than 300 attend Lingerie Football League tryout in Atlanta

FAIRBURN, Ga. — Atlanta will soon have another football team and it may gain as much attention as the Atlanta Falcons 8-0 start did.

The Atlanta Steam is the newest team in the Lingerie Football League. The team will play in the Gwinnett Arena when games start next year.

Player Erica Smith described the outfit to Nelson's News on wsbtv.com as a bathing suit top with booty shorts. Players wear helmets, shoulder pads, elbow pads and knee pads, too.

The Lingerie Football League is closer to the Arena Football League than the NFL. Games are played on a 50 yard field; it's seven on seven; teams have four downs to score; there are no first downs, field goals or punts and it is tackle.

The Atlanta Steam held a tryout Saturday in Fairburn. Over 300 women attended the event, more had to be turned away.

The team will hold another tryout, likely in December, before putting together the squad.
