Police: Suspect in fatal Midtown shooting found dead

ATLANTA — Atlanta police say the man accused of shooting and killing a woman outside a Midtown office has been found dead inside his home Wednesday afternoon.

The woman, identified as 47-year-old Bridgette Holt of Hampton, was shot and killed outside the Norfolk Southern offices at 1230 Peachtree Street NE, near 14th Street and across from the Woodruff Art Center early Friday morning,

Detectives told Channel 2's Richard Elliot the shooting appears to be the result of a domestic dispute.

Witnesses told police Holt was approached by a male co-worker. After a brief conversation, the man pulled out a gun and shot Holt several times, witnesses said.

Holt was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she died from her injuries.

APD officers traveled to Clayton County and executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home at about 2 p.m. and found him dead from a gunshot wound.

The scene appears consistent with a suicide, however, the Clayton County Medical Examiner will make the final determination as to cause of death.
