ATLANTA — After Hurricane Isaias hit the Gulf Coast, Atlanta-based Waffle House is monitoring how many of its stores were impacted by the storm.
That’s where the “Waffle House Index” comes in. Here’s how it works:
If a restaurant is open with a full menu and power, it’s green. If the restaurant is open with a limited menu or power is an issue, it’s yellow.
Code Red is when the restaurant is closed. And if a Waffle House is closed, you know the storm packed a punch.

Waffle House says as of 8 a.m. Saturday, at least 91 restaurants are closed and 67 of them have no power. At least 17 restaurants are on limited operations. Most of the stores impacted are on the Gulf Coast.
“We will reopen these locations as soon as we are able and it is safe to do so,” a Waffle House spokesman said in an email to Channel 2 Action News.
The other 1,166 locations remain open. You can click here to see if the Waffle House near you is open.
