ATLANTA — Police arrested two teens after what started as a traffic stop but ended in an hours-long SWAT standoff.
Police initially tried to stop a stolen Dodge Charger just before 4 p.m. The driver refused to stop and fled the scene.
The car was later spotted in the area of Pine Street and McAfee Street.
Once on the scene, police were told by witnesses that they saw the teens get out of the car and run into an apartment building on Pine Street. The witnesses told police that they believed the teens were armed.
Police at the scene said the teens refused to come out when requested. SWAT was then called to the scene.
The Atlanta police SWAT team arrived and went into the apartment, but the teens were gone.

A witness told the police that the suspects escaped into an another apartment.
SWAT made their way into that apartment and found Kartier Jenkins,19, and Demontae Thomas,17.
The pair were arrested and received several charges. Jenkins was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, theft by receiving stolen property, reckless driving, and fleeing and eluding. Thomas was charged with theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Both are currently held at the Fulton County jail.
