Southwest plane with mechanical issue makes landing at Hartsfield-Jackson

ATLANTA — Southwest flight #2044 made an unscheduled landing at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson international airport.

The flight, which started in Chicago, was heading to Fort Myers, Florida.

The pilot, out of an abundance of caution, diverted to Atlanta because of a mechanical issue. The plane loaded with 126 passengers and five crew members landed without incident. There were no reported injuries.

The plane has been removed from service.

The passengers will be boarded on another plane and will arrive in Fort Myers about an hour behind the initial planned arrival.
