Sketch released of man who attempted to abduct girl

ATLANTA — Atlanta police have released a sketch related to the investigation of a man attempting to abduct a girl near a southeast Atlanta middle school.

The 12-year-old told her teachers a strange man driving a white box truck pulled up to her as she was waiting at the bus stop near the intersection of Jonesboro Road and Constitution Road on March 4. She said the man told her to get into his truck but she refused. The man then got out of the truck but the girl was able to run away.

The man was described as thin, approximately 60 years old, 5'10" to 6' tall, with blue eyes, brown and grey hair and a gray goatee or beard.  He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.  The vehicle is described as a white box truck with no markings or letters on it.  It is dirty and there were papers on the dashboard.

This case does not appear related to any of last week's incidents and has not been linked to any other incidents at this time.
