NORCROSS, Ga. — The City of Norcross is beginning a nearly $1.8 million road resurfacing project today, Aug. 31. The project will improve 19 streets throughout the community.

The Norcross City Council awarded the resurfacing contract to DCBC LLC. Funding for the project is provided through 2023 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funds, Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) funds and Local Road Assistance funding.
“Maintaining safe, high-quality streets is one of the most important services we provide,” Mayor Craig Newton said. “This latest round of resurfacing builds upon the significant progress Norcross has made in improving the roads our residents, businesses and visitors use every day.”
Since June 2024, the city has resurfaced 71 roads totaling 21.4 miles, representing about 52% of Norcross’ 41.2 miles of city-maintained streets. That ongoing initiative represents an $8.9 million total investment, including $3.3 million in grant funding and $5.6 million from the city, primarily funded through Transportation SPLOST.

- Buchanan Street Northwest
- Freeman Circle
- Doc’s Creek Court
- Dogwood Circle
- Bishops Crossing Northwest
- Carroll Court
- Georgetown Park Drive
- Norcross Glen Trace
- Unity Drive
- Financial Drive Northwest
- Wexford Drive
- Bolton Circle
- Stevens Road
- Price Place Northwest
- Hunt Street Northwest
- Lawrenceville Street Northwest
- Summerour Street
- South Cemetery Street
Roads were selected through a data-driven process following a Pavement Condition Analysis completed by an independent contractor in May 2024. Streets were prioritized based on their evaluated condition, starting with roads rated poor and followed by those rated fair.
Resurfacing work is scheduled to continue through October. City officials noted that exact dates remain subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
The city says drivers should expect temporary lane closures, construction activity and possible delays in active work zones. Drivers are asked to use caution, follow posted signs and allow extra travel time when driving through resurfacing area.
