ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — A fight that broke out before a high school football game last week has earned the coaches and some players a suspension.
Rockdale County High School and Heritage High School in Conyers got into a fight during the pregame warmups on the field before Friday night’s game. As a result, the game that night was canceled.

Georgia High School Association officials confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that both head coaches and players from each team have been suspended for their next game.
Both schools were also given fines.
“Just two weeks into the football season, the Georgia High School Association is sending a strong message that sportsmanship and appropriate conduct remain a priority,” officials wrote in a statement.
School leaders have seven days to appeal the GHSA’s decision.

It’s not the only fight that broke out during Friday night’s games.
Five people were arrested after a fight broke out during the East Coweta High School versus Newnan High School football game. A stolen gun was found on the ground after the fight.
