HALL COUNTY, Ga. — A 35-year veteran of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office has resigned after being accused of an inappropriate relationship with a woman while he was on duty.
An internal affairs investigation concluded that it happened but found insufficient evidence to support the woman’s claims that accused Lt. Todd Casper of harassment.

The sheriff’s office has been in the spotlight in recent months, some say for the wrong reasons.
“It’s sad. It’s embarrassing. It’s just a travesty,” retired Sheriff’s Capt. Brad Rounds told Channel 2’s Berndt Petersen on Channel 2 Action News at 6:00 p.m.
The resignation was the latest in a string of issues in connection with deputies and senior staff getting into trouble.
Sheriff Gerald Couch himself was arrested for DUI and served a lengthy suspension.
Casper’s career featured numerous awards and high-profile assignments. It ended with his signature on a resignation sheet.
Retired Capt. Rounds says recent events don’t represent the department as a whole.
“Deputies are going to do the right thing. We have a small percentage that don’t. We’re getting rid of that. But for the majority, 99.9 percent are good cops,” Rounds said.
The sheriff’s office is not aware of any pending charges against the former lieutenant.
