Restaurant cited for "mold-like growth" fails inspection

ATLANTA — A College Park restaurant has failed an inspection for the second time in 10 months.

Joe's On Sullivan, not too far from Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, is facing its second unsatisfactory inspection score this year which means the restaurant must pass the next inspection or it could be temporarily closed.

The restaurant is a neighborhood favorite in College Park. It failed its inspection with a 61 on Oct. 24.

"Wow, I just ate here today and last week and kind of shocking to hear that. I don't know, I'm just shocked," said customer Chris Sullivan.

The violations included food with mold-like growth, observed interior of microwave soiled and observed broken eggs in walk-in cooler. Another violation on the inspection report included the dumpster with overflowing garbage.

This is not the first time Joe's on Sullivan failed an inspection this year. In January, it got a 68, which is unsatisfactory.

When questioned about the recent inspection, the head server told Channel 2's Carol Sbarge the owner was not there.

Of the 15 violations in this latest inspection, all but one were new violations. After failing earlier this year, the restaurant got a 78 in a re-inspection in February
