ATLANTA — The U.S. Postal Service requested a price hike ahead of the 2026 holiday season. The price increase would be temporary, according to USPS.

The increase will help cover extra handling costs on retail and commercial domestic competitive parcels like Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage and Parcel Select.

The USPS Board of Governors approved the plan for the shipping price increase. The agency sent the request to the Postal Regulatory Commission Aug. 26.
The postal service said that no other products or services would be affected.
This temporary increase is planned to start Oct. 4 and go through Jan. 17, 2027, pending approval by the Postal Regulatory Commission.
