Possible coronavirus case complicates Atlanta shooting investigation

ATLANTA — Atlanta police say they can't speak with one of the victims in a quadruple shooting because doctors diagnosed him with symptoms of coronavirus.

An Atlanta police captain told Channel 2 Action News someone shot four men outside an apartment building on Ponce De Leon Avenue late Sunday night.

"The gentlemen that was transported to one of the hospitals was diagnosed with symptoms of COVID-19. So, the medical staff advised the officers not to, that they would be unable to speak with him," said Atlanta Police Capt. T. Williams.

The man is described to be in his 50s. Three other victims walked into Grady Memorial Hospital on their own with gunshot wounds. Two of the three victims at Grady are believed to be under the age of 18.

The victims told police that a group of them were walking in the area when a black Pontiac drove up and someone inside the vehicle started shooting at a member of the group

Right now, police told Channel 2 that they don’t have much information to go on.
