ATLANTA — “Richard, I’m going to be on your wall one day.”
Those were the exact words from 16-year-old Garrett Geros as he was getting fitted for a prosthetic at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta six years ago. He was referring to a poster on the wall of a Paralympic athlete.

Geros, now 22, lost his left leg in a car accident a week after his 16th birthday. The Cartersville native worked with the Children’s orthopedics team in his recovery.
Fast forward to 2022, when Geros won the silver medal for snowboarding at the Paralympic Games in Beijing last month.

Children’s shared a sweet photo of Geros on a recent visit to the hospital, decked out in his Team USA gear and holding a poster of himself as an Olympian. He’s standing in front of the photo that inspired and next to Richard, the one he made the promise to just a few years ago.

Geros said that his next step is winning the gold.
