Ossoff voted early last week. On Friday, his Republican opponent, Collins, went to the polls in his home county and then asked others to do the same.

Channel 2 Action News was inside the Butts County voting precinct as Collins lined up and cast his ballot for U.S. Senate and other races.

“Who’d you vote for? Oh, I voted for Mike Collins,” he said.

Outside the Jackson polling location, Collins spoke with reporters.

The latest Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll shows Collins trailing Democratic incumbent Sen. Jon Ossoff, 48% to 40%, with 12% undecided.

Collins, like other Republicans, is traveling around the state trying to get the Republican base energized and to the polls.

President Donald Trump will hold a rally in Perry on Saturday, and Collins will be there. He thinks Trump can seal the deal with the base.

“I’ve had the opportunity to campaign and be around campaigns for a long time. But that man — President Trump — just brings a different energy out there, and it certainly excites the electorate out there, the base,” Collins said.

Ossoff, meanwhile, has that lead in the polling, but he was back out on the campaign trail, too.

On Friday, Ossoff was in Augusta talking about issues like affordability, a top concern for voters.

“It has never cost more in American history to fill up your truck, stock your fridge or power your home because of the war and the tariffs and the health care cuts that Mike Collins supported,” Ossoff said.

Originally, Republican Rick Jackson, who is running for governor, was not going to attend the Trump rally in Perry. However, the campaign changed its mind, and he will be there.
